A Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin has ordered the remand of an 83-year-old chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Illiasu Ibrahim, along with two other defendants, Mallam Shola Muse and Adesemowo Ade Gogo Suleiman.
The order was issued by the presiding judge, Hon. Justice E.B. Mohammed, following the defendants’ arraignment on a three-count criminal charge filed by the State Government.
The court directed that the trio be held at the Oke-Kura Correctional Facility pending further legal proceedings.
The prosecution alleges that the defendants made derogatory and false claims against Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq, the Mutawali of Ilorin and elder brother to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, during a broadcast on SBS 96.9 FM.
According to the charge sheet signed by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ayoola Idowu Akande, the remarks were considered inflammatory and capable of inciting public unrest against the sitting governor.
After hearing the initial arguments, Justice Mohammed adjourned the matter to April 25, 2026, for a formal hearing on the substantive suit.
