Thousands of youth supporters and key members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State on Sunday officially defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), pledging alignment with the Kwankwasiyya Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The decampees, drawn from Madobi and Gari Local Government Areas, were formally received by the Vice Presidential candidate of the NDC, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, at his residence along Miller Road in Kano State.
Receiving the delegation alongside community leaders, Kwankwaso commended the defectors for taking a bold step to align with the NDC’s vision for a better Nigeria.
The delegation from Gari Local Government Area was led by Hon. Dr. Danlami Zakari Unguwar Gertai, who brought thousands of his supporters into the party fold.
The reception brought significant color to the Miller Road neighborhood as thousands of youth supporters thronged the area, wearing the signature red caps of the Kwankwasiyya movement and carrying banner signs to celebrate the merger.
During the event, which featured a mix of outdoor public rallies and indoor strategic sessions, the newly joined members pledged their loyalty and commitment to the NDC.
