2027 Guber: Matawalle endorses Governor Lawal for second term

The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has officially dismissed speculations regarding a 2027 gubernatorial bid, declaring his total support for Governor Dauda Lawal as his sole candidate for the upcoming election cycle.

Speaking during the defection rally held in honour of Governor Lawal, Matawalle emphasized that his priority remains the unity of the party and the progress of the state under the current leadership.

Reinforcing this position, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, echoed these sentiments, noting that the state has been effectively transformed through purposeful governance.

Professor Yilwatda pointed to Governor Lawal’s massive infrastructural strides specifically citing the construction of a brand-new airport as empirical evidence that Zamfara is now firmly an APC stronghold.

The National Chairman further asserted that the Governor’s performance is a clear reflection of the President’s Renewed Hope agenda in action, successfully delivering tangible dividends of democracy to the people.

He concluded that the internal cohesion within the Zamfara APC, underscored by Matawalle’s endorsement, positions the party for a dominant performance in future elections.
