2027 election is Nigerians fighting for their lives — Aisha Yesufu

Popular socio-political activist, Aisha Yesufu, has declared that the 2027 general election represents a fight for the survival of Nigerians, warning that the battle has already begun.

Yesufu made the assertion in a post on her 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, stressing that Nigerians should not expect anyone to rescue them from the country’s challenges.

According to her, the forthcoming election will determine who governs Nigeria, adding that citizens must take responsibility for shaping the nation’s future rather than leaving everything to divine intervention.

“In case you missed my New Year message, no one is coming to save us. It is we, Nigerians, that will save ourselves,” she wrote.

She explained that prayers alone are not enough, noting that the miracle Nigerians seek is the opportunity to remain alive and actively participate in deciding those who will govern the country.

“The time for decision-making is now. We should not abdicate our responsibility to God and refuse to do the needful. The 2027 election is Nigerians fighting for their lives, and it has already started,” Yesufu added.

Recall that in December 2025, Yesufu publicly declared her allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking in Enugu State, she revealed that although she had never been a card-carrying member of any political party, she decided to join the ADC following the political move of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Yesufu described Obi as her leader and expressed readiness to work with him toward what she described as the task of rescuing Nigeria.
