2027: Cleric urges religious leaders to promote peace

Pastor Bola Joseph of Christ Foundation Church, Ilorin, has advised religious leaders in the country to promote peace as the 2027 general elections draw near.
Joseph gave the advice on Friday in Ilorin.
He said religious leaders must uphold peace and avoid any form of violence ahead of the elections.
According to him, some religious leaders use their platforms to make provocative statements and incite their followers during elections.
“Don’t heat up the polity with your words. Be mindful of what comes out of your mouth.
“Be an agent of peace and not violence. Don’t be too emotional or mislead the public with what you say.
“Whether you are a pastor or an imam, let your actions promote peace and not provoke crisis,” he said.
The cleric also urged politicians and other leaders to conduct themselves responsibly and exhibit sportsmanship before, during, and after the elections.
He called on Nigerians to see one another as brothers and sisters, regardless of their political differences.
“Elections will come and go. Let us see ourselves as brothers and sisters, without shedding blood or causing hatred,” he said.
