2027: Adebutu vows to end poverty, restore Ogun’s ‘happy days’ under PDP

The Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, has vowed to tackle poverty and restore what he described as the “happy days” Nigerians experienced under previous PDP administrations.
Adebutu made the pledge on Wednesday in Abeokuta during the flag-off of the PDP’s 2027 presidential and National Assembly campaigns in Ogun Central Senatorial District.
The campaign train moved through the three federal constituencies in the district, attracting thousands of party supporters and residents who trooped out to receive Adebutu, the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Hajiya Yemi Sowunmi-Kolapo, Senatorial Candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, and other candidates.
The campaign commenced at Agbado Station in Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency before moving to Abeokuta North and Abeokuta South.
In Abeokuta North, supporters gathered around the NTA Junction, Totoro, as the campaign train arrived, while a large crowd also followed the convoy in Abeokuta South to the Ake Pavilion, venue of the Ogun Central flag-off rally.
Addressing supporters at the rally, Adebutu said the PDP remained capable of providing solutions to the economic hardship confronting Nigerians.
He said the party had a record of delivering better living conditions, recalling what he described as some of the best periods Nigeria had experienced under PDP administrations.
“Today, we are here to remind you that some of the best times Nigeria has experienced in recent times were under the leadership of our great party, the PDP,” he said.
Adebutu expressed optimism that the return of the PDP to power would usher in better days for Nigerians.
“I know the happy days are coming again in January. By the grace of God, the leader in Nigeria has asked me to say one prayer. The prayer is that we shall vanquish poverty,” he said.
The PDP candidate urged party supporters to remain committed and ensure that their votes count during the election, stressing the need to resist intimidation and stand firmly by their choices at the polls.
Adebutu also appealed to voters in Ogun Central to support the party’s senatorial candidate, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, whom he described as a tested and trusted politician with an impressive record of representation.
He urged residents to “bid farewell to non-performance and vote for liberation,” calling on them to come out en masse on January 16, 2027, to vote for the PDP.
Speaking at the rally, Obasanjo thanked residents for the warm reception accorded her across the senatorial district.
She said residents had continued to identify with projects and interventions she facilitated during her previous representation, promising to do more for the people if elected.
The campaign also featured PDP candidates for the House of Representatives, including Arch. Dele Olaleye for Abeokuta North and Hon. Toyin Amuzu for Abeokuta South.
The large crowd at the various campaign stops pledged their support for the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
The supporters declared: “We will vote and stand by our votes for PDP.”
