A popular evangelist in the South West, Samson Oluwamodede, has prophesied that there will be consequences if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, attempts to postpone the forthcoming general election

Pointedly, Oluwamodede warned that moving the election from its already scheduled dates might plunge the country into chaos and unrest.

According to the popular cleric who also doubles as General Overseer of the Prayer Centre Church of God, PCCG, all must be done to ensure that peace does not elude the country at this critical point in the country.

“Nigeria may postpone the general election. If they postpone it, something may happen. I repeat, something unbearable may happen.

Oluwamodede in his prophecy during a church programme said, “So, we don’t want them to postpone it. We don’t war. We don’t want a crisis. We don’t want chaos. Let there be peace in Nigeria.”

In the last 24 hours, there have been speculations that the polls could be cancelled or postponed owing to the growing wave of election-related insecurity across the country.

Chairman, Board of The Electoral Institute, TEI, INEC’s training arm, Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru also made the observation on Monday in Abuja at the validation of election security training resources.

The electoral body had announced February 25 and March 12, 2023, for the conduct of the presidential, national assembly and governorship elections respectively.
