15th WAUG Games: Ghana defeats ABUAD, Nigeria 4-2 in football match

The ongoing 15th WAUG Games at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, continued today with events in various sports kicking off.

In the only football match of the day, the University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana, defeated Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), 4-2 in a scintillating encounter that produced six goals.

The first half ended 3-2 in favor of the Ghanaians, with the ABUAD lads missing a penalty kick.

In the second half, the UDS team, who are the defending champions of the World University Games (FISU) and the African University Games football tournament upped their game and scored another goal to secure the victory.

Tomorrow morning, the host university, OAU, will lock horns with their counterparts from Ghana, the University of Energy and Natural Resources.

The second match will feature the giant killers, UDS, Ghana, versus Lead City University, Nigeria, in the afternoon.
