The 10th edition of Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria, scheduled for the 25th to 27th March 2025 at the Landmark Centre in Lagos is set to host about 100 leading exhibitors from over 15 countries to showcase tailored products and solutions for the Nigerian market and drive Nigeria’s technological investment in agrofood, plastics, printing and packaging.
This was communicated through a press release as well as a media briefing organized by fairtrade Messe in Lagos on Thursday to create awareness of the oncoming event which will be a platform for the convergence of industry players and experts to exhibit, brainstorm and profer solutions to the Nigerian market.
The statement examined the highlights of the 2025 Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria such as; Global Exhibitors from about 100 leading exhibitors from over 15 countries to showcase tailored products and solutions for the Nigerian market; Government participation as key ministries of the Nigerian government at both the federal and Lagos State levels will be present; Official national pavilions from China, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, and South Africa;
Furthermore, the Agrofood & Plastprintpack Nigeria Conference will reflect the partnership between Nigeria and Germany which highlights German expertise in these sectors and provides opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and business development between German and Nigerian stakeholders.
The conference is also organized to be a Top-Level Conference- A comprehensive 3-day conference featuring over 20 sessions and more than 70 speakers in a 180-seat conference room with Special Topic on Banking & Finance. This Key highlights include keynote speakers and panel discussions, a dedicated exhibition area for financial institutions and investment pitch competitions.
Meanwhile, Following the fruitful of the collaboration since 2021 event, fairtrade & OTACCWA, the Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa, will co-organise the 7th West African Cold Chain Summit & Exhibition (WACCSE) by OTACCWA alongside agrofood & plastprintpack Nigeria 2025.
For the development of Nigeria’s technological investments, the conference aims at driving growth in agrofood, plastics, printing and packaging. Noting from analysis Sourced from VDMA 2024; investments in food & packaging technology amounting to €304m in 2023, Nigeria stands as Africa’s second-largest investor, trailing only South Africa with €398m and leading Egypt with €281m. (VDMA 2024); Nigeria’s food production has witnessed a remarkable surge of 39.6% in recent years, from €26bn in 2016 to €36.3bn in 2020, projected to rise by 48% between 2021 and 2024, from €42.3bn to €62.6bn. Despite significant investments in local food production, Nigeria’s food imports totaled US$6.1bn in 2023 (WTO), positioning the nation as one of Africa’s foremost food importers; With €134m in 2023, Nigeria emerges as the fourth-largest investor in plastics technology in Africa, showcasing an annual growth rate of 13.9% between 2016 and 2023; Nigerian imports of printing & paper processing technology have surged by 17% annually, reaching €92m in 2022, securing Nigeria’s position as the second-largest investor in sub-Saharan Africa; Nigeria ranks fourth in terms of investment in packaging technology in Africa with €139m in 2023, after South Africa with €194m, Algeria with €161m and Egypt with €145m.
