1.9m PVCs collected ahead of Osun guber elections — INEC

Over 1.9 million registered voters in Osun State have collected their Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the state’s governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 15th August 2026, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

In a statement released on Thursday by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the electoral umpire disclosed that a total of 1,906,390 PVCs representing 81.50 percent of the state’s registered voting population were collected across various local government areas.

The total voter registry for Osun State stands at 2,339,233.

The commission confirmed that the remaining 432,843 uncollected cards, which account for 18.50 percent of the total, have been deposited in the vaults of the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with established electoral security guidelines.

Addressing issues surrounding damaged, defaced, or lost voter cards, the commission noted that several registered voters applied for replacements, with 6,101 applicants successfully printing downloadable copies of their credentials to ensure their participation in the polls.

To promote transparency, INEC stated that a comprehensive breakdown showing collected cards on a polling unit by polling unit basis has been uploaded to its official website for public verification.

Reaffirming its commitment to an orderly and peaceful exercise, the commission assured political parties, election observers, media organisations, and the general public of its complete operational readiness to deliver a free, fair, credible, and inclusive governorship election.
