Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has commended the Nigerian military, particularly troops of Operation Hadin Kai, for the successful rescue of 360 abductees from the Mandara Mountains, a known terrorist enclave in southern Borno State.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, Zulum described the operation as a major success and a testament to the courage, professionalism, and effectiveness of intelligence-driven military operations in the fight against insurgency in the North-East.
The governor said the rescue of hundreds of men, women, and children held captive by terrorists had renewed hope among affected communities and reinforced the commitment of the Federal Government, the military, and the Borno State Government to restoring peace and security in the region.
Zulum expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Chief of Army Staff, the Theater Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, and the officers and soldiers involved in the operation for their dedication and sacrifice.
He also praised local communities for their cooperation, noting that their support contributed significantly to the success of the mission.
The governor described the rescue as clear evidence of effective inter-agency collaboration and pledged continued logistical support for security agencies.
He urged residents to remain vigilant, support ongoing operations with credible information, and keep hope alive regarding efforts to secure the release of abducted schoolchildren in the Askira-Uba Local Government Area.
