The Kwara State Government has applauded the Federal Government for its coordinated reforms and strategic investments in the agricultural sector, which have contributed to a noticeable reduction in food prices and improved availability across the state and the country at large.
The commendation was made by the State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Abolore Afeez Alabi, during the commemoration of the 2025 World Food Day, themed “Hand in Hand for Better Food and a Better Future.” The annual event serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility to build sustainable food systems and ensure access to affordable and nutritious food for all.
Dr. Alabi praised both the Federal and State Governments for their commitment to implementing policies aimed at addressing food insecurity, noting that the positive impact of these reforms is already being felt by the average Nigerian through the gradual reduction in food prices.
He also commended the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his visionary leadership and the consistent implementation of impactful programmes that continue to empower farmers, boost productivity, and strengthen agricultural value chains across the state.
The Commissioner further acknowledged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing clear policy direction and national support that have helped stabilise the country’s food systems.
According to him, the combined efforts of both tiers of government have significantly improved the affordability of staple foods, demonstrating the success of ongoing reforms and farmer-focused initiatives. He also congratulated farmers across Kwara State for their resilience, innovation, and collaboration with government programmes.
Dr. Alabi highlighted the increasing adoption of improved farming techniques, cooperative ventures, and technological tools among farmers, describing them as the backbone of food security and the pride of the state’s agricultural success story.
He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to deepening agricultural reforms, supporting farmers, and strengthening food systems to sustain the progress achieved so far.
Dr. Alabi added that the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq places high priority on the sustainable development of the agricultural sector—not only to ensure food sufficiency for the people but also to use the sector as a means of youth empowerment and gainful employment.
