Women declared wanted after being caught in same-sex relationship

Two women narrowly escaped a mob attack on March 19, 2025, after being caught allegedly engaging in a lesbian act on Adekunle Street, Eleyele, Oyo State.

The situation quickly escalated as the mob threatened violence, but timely intervention by the police ensured the women’s safety.

The authorities immediately removed the women from the mob’s grasp and took them into custody for proper investigation, with potential prosecution pending.

This follows a similar incident on March 6, 2025, in Ojo, Ibadan, involving two other women, Adebowale Temilade, a mother of two, and her partner Tosin Adeleke.

The women were reportedly caught by the house gateman, Musa, who filmed the act and alerted the authorities. With video evidence, Musa filed a formal report with the police, who are now investigating the incident and preparing for potential legal action.

In connection with this case, the police have declared the women wanted.

These cases have reignited discussions on LGBTQ+ rights in Nigeria, where same-sex relationships remain illegal.
