Woman seeks assistance over daughter, family’s protection

An octogenarian, Deaconess Comfort Adio yesterday expressed sadness over continued plans by suspected kidnappers to abduct her daughter, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ayimoro and her family.

The woman, a former daily contribution collector made her feelings known while speaking with newsmen who thronged  her Okoro, Ibadan, Oyo State residence, explaining that her daughter, her husband Dr. Gabriel and their children have not had stable minds, as a result of constant threats to their lives by kidnappers.

Recall that Mrs. Ayimoro, a University Lecturer in Ondo State and her family, ran into gunmen, said to be kidnappers, late last year while travelling  to Ondo State from Abuja.

The University Don, together with her family, were ambushed by four men who were in camouflage army uniforms and  led into a forest by their abductors

“Oluwatoyin told me they were kidnapped in  Obajana area of  Kogi State, and tortured by their abductors who treated them without any human feeling,” the Deaconess said.

She noted that despite the ransom collected by the kidnappers before her daughter and members of her family were released, noted that the bandits are yet to desist from threatening her daughter, as they accused her of turning deaf ears to their warning, that their activities must not be reported to security agents by her.

“Since December last year, when my daughter and her family were released by these notorious elements, Toyin has received series of calls from people whose identities have remained unknown, telling her to be ready for another attack,” she said.

She further explained that the suspected kidnappers, on a particular Saturday, traced her daughter to a friend’s house in Akure, adding “she was so lucky to have left her friend’s house before they arrived.”

Deaconess Adio who will be celebrating her birthday next week noted that she was contemplating, cancelling the celebration as a result of the fear she was entertaining, that the kidnappers, might use the opportunity to actualise their previous abortive moves, to deal with her daughter and her family .

“Note that the entire family can no longer guarantee what will happen to them next, as they now sleep with palpable fear boldly written all over their bodies. They have now  left their residence in Akure for fear  of the unknown.”
