Winock’s innovative work-from-home policy mitigates impact of fuel subsidy removal

The recent fuel subsidy removal has significantly increased the cost of transportation in the country. As a result, employees are now finding it very difficult financially to travel to the office.

To reduce the effect of the fuel subsidy removal, Winock’s leadership and management have implemented a work-from-home policy.

Winock’s staff can choose a day in the week to work from home, thereby enabling them to save money on transportation. Furthermore, Winock plans to increase the number of work-from-home days to two in the near future.

Winock’s CEO, Sanmi Lajuwomi says that “Winock is blessed with forward-thinking staff that are committed to collaborating with the organisation to achieve its mission to support the growth and development of MSMEs in Sub-Saharan Africa by making clean energy and financial services accessible, affordable, and scalable. It is our duty as leaders to let the employees know that we appreciate their commitment, and we care about their welfare.”

Winock’s Head of Human Resources, Lisa Ndaks, added that “Winock is an organisation that constantly thinks of ways to improve the conditions of employees through progressive policies.

“We are pleased that Winock is one of the first private companies in Nigeria to implement a Work from home policy for staff.”
