Wife denies knowing whereabouts of ex-husband wanted by Police over murder case

A Benin-based woman, Mrs. Rose Edobor of No. 14, Jude Otasowe Street, Off Medical Stores Road, Benin City, Edo State, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, denied knowing the whereabouts of her ex-husband, Victor Osakue Osas, before the Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Edo State Police Command.
Victor Osakue Osas is currently wanted by the Edo State Police Command following a petition written on April 26, 2026, by Mr. Felix Iyekekpolo and Mr. Osazee Odigie.
The petition was submitted on behalf of the families of two deceased PDP youth executives, Clement Iyekekpolo and Andrew Odigie who were killed in the Egor Local Government Area of the state on October 20, 2020.
Speaking to journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ebo Ikoefem, stated that upon receiving the petition, the State Police Command swung into action by issuing an invitation letter to Mrs. Rose Edobor.
The invitation was based on allegations from the victims’ families, prompting police investigators to ascertain whether she knew the whereabouts of the wanted suspect.
According to ASP Ikoefem, “Mrs. Rose Edobor was duly interrogated for several hours by a team of investigators regarding the aforementioned allegations. The interrogation focused on determining whether she had withheld any material information relevant to the ongoing investigation and manhunt for the suspect, Victor Osakue Osas, and also if she knew Pastor Matthew Ose Ehigiamusoe.”
“Upon the conclusion of the interrogation, a preliminary review of available evidence, and the execution of a search warrant at her residence, the Command found the allegations leveled against Mrs. Rose Edobor to be baseless and unfounded.”
“There was no evidence to substantiate claims that she concealed information related to the whereabouts of the suspect, whom she disclosed they had since divorced. She did, however, confirm that she knows Pastor Matthew Ose Ehigiamusoe because she and her family fellowship at his church on Adolor College Road, Benin City.”
“Following the interrogation and these findings, Mrs. Rose Edobor was released unconditionally and allowed to return home.”
The Police image maker further reiterated that Victor Osakue Osas remains wanted for the alleged murder of the two PDP executive members in Egor Local Government Area, emphasizing that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect so he can face the law.
Members of the public have been advised that anyone with useful information leading to the suspect’s arrest should report immediately to the nearest police station or directly to the Edo State Police Command.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Rose Edobor has appealed to the Nigeria Police Force to come to her rescue following an invasion of her residence by unknown individuals in Benin City.
Narrating her ordeal to journalists at the Edo NUJ Secretariat in Benin City, Mrs. Edobor stated that on April 14, 2026, at about 1:45 a.m., a group of unknown persons stormed her residence.
They attempted to gain access to the compound through the locked gate while shouting, “Open the door or we will force our way into the house!” and “You must reveal the whereabouts of your husband, Victor Osakue! He cannot kill our brothers and go free!”
She further stated that as she grew increasingly terrified, she made an effort to call the police, shouting to the intruders that law enforcement officers were on their way.
This caused the hoodlums to flee just as she was about to escape over the back fence with her child.
She called on the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, the State Commissioner of Police, and other law enforcement agencies to come to her aid, stating, “I am too afraid to go back to that house.”
Following her brief, journalists advised her to formally lodge a complaint at the police station closest to her residence.
