US Strikes: Ejimakor urges FG to relocate Kanu from Sokoto

Aloy Ejimakor, lead counsel to the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has called on the Federal Government to move his client out of Sokoto State, citing serious security concerns.

Ejimakor made the appeal on Friday in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, following reports of a joint military operation by the United States and Nigerian forces against terrorists in parts of Sokoto State.

According to him, the development has further confirmed that Sokoto is heavily affected by terrorist activities and is therefore unsafe for Kanu’s continued detention.

He argued that the presence of terrorist groups in the area poses a grave threat to the IPOB leader’s safety, urging authorities to relocate him to a more secure facility outside what he described as the “terrorist belt” of northern Nigeria.

Ejimakor emphasised that the need to relocate Kanu has become more urgent due to the deteriorating security situation in the region.
“The US military strike against terrorists in Sokoto has finally confirmed that Sokoto is riddled with terrorists and was never a safe place of custody for Mazi Nnamdi Kanu,” he said.
