Umahi, Sani meet to fast-track Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road delivery

The Federal Government is pushing for the expedited completion of the crucial Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road Project, with th Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi meeting with the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani CON, and the project contractor, Messrs Infiouest International Limited.

Speaking, Umahi directed Infiouest to significantly increase the number of work zones, particularly between Jere and Kaduna in Kaduna State, ensuring the project is delivered in record time using the new high-quality standard applied to major national projects.

During the meeting held at the Federal Ministry of Works office in Mabushi, Abuja, Umahi emphasized the high priority President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration places on the project.

He revealed that the entire scope of work, covering the sections from Abuja down to Kano, is costing the Federal Government a total of N754 billion. Specifically, Lot 1, spanning 118 kilometers, is valued at N252 billion, while Lot 2, covering 164 kilometers (82km by 2), costs N502 billion.

To ensure rapid progress, the Minister instructed the contractor, Infiouest, to deploy workers across four sections simultaneously and ordered the Engineer Representative to immediately relocate to Kaduna to monitor the project's progress daily.

Umahi personally assured Governor Sani that the quality of work would be rigorously tracked to ensure timely delivery, stating that the quality and standard being implemented, comparable to the coastal highway project, would be a legacy for which the Northern region would remember President Tinubu.

Responding, Governor Uba Sani expressed his complete satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting and the quality of work being executed.

He described the road as a vital transport corridor, noting that it connects the economic activities of nearly 12 states across the North West, North Central, and North East regions.

Governor Sani commended Umahi's professionalism, passion, and innovation, describing him as a rare gem in public service for his deep, off-hand knowledge of the project details, from its size to the required quality.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Infiouest International Limited, Mr. Joseph Abou Jaounde, assured the Minister that the company would adhere strictly to the directives.

He promised that despite minor local challenges in Kaduna, the road sections would be joined seamlessly within two weeks to ensure the work is completed on time and meets the required quality.

This collaborative effort, supported by Governor Sani's commitment to leveraging federal infrastructural programs, underscores the progressive results being achieved by sub-national governments under the Renewed Hope administration.
