UIAA leadership crisis deepens as Prof. Nyitor, Akintola face impeachment/suspension

The University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) has been plunged into a deeper leadership crisis following the impeachment/suspension of Prof. Gabriel Nyitor and Dr. Mrs. Akintola.

This was contained in a statement signed by Dr. Folaranmi Salau, Chairman of the Progressive Forum of UIAA, and High Chief Sunday O. Akodu, Secretary.

The statement alleged that Dr. Emina’s actions are part of a larger pattern of corruption, financial mismanagement, and abuse of power that has plagued the UIAA for over a decade.

At the beginning of the crisis is an alleged multi-million naira scandal that Dr. Emina has failed to account for.

The Progressive Forum has demanded financial transparency, independent audits, and constitutional reforms, but these efforts have been thwarted by entrenched corruption and manipulative leadership.

“The removal of Prof. Nyitor and Dr. Akintola is not about accountability or service delivery but rather a desperate attempt to eliminate those who have outlived their usefulness in Dr. Kemi Emina’s agenda of unchecked control,”

“For far too long, UIAA members worldwide have watched as donations meant for noble projects such as the Who-is-Who Project, Cancer Endowment Funds, and other Alumni-driven initiatives have disappeared without accountability,”the statement reads partly.

The Progressive Forum has called for urgent reforms to restore UIAA’s credibility and integrity.

These reforms include an independent financial audit, the dissolution of the current leadership structure, and the holding of those responsible for financial fraud and election malpractice accountable under the law.

The University of Ibadan Pro-Chancellor and the Governing Council have been urged to step in and ensure that UIAA is run as a transparent and credible alumni association, rather than a one-man enterprise.

The Progressive Forum has also called on all well-meaning UI alumni worldwide to take a stand against the continued manipulation and corruption within UIAA.
