Ughelli mosque attack: Islamic group reacts
Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, Ari Muhammad Ali, to fish out the perpetrators who attacked a mosque at Ugelli, Delta State, on Friday.
Gunmen had attacked a mosque at Ugelli and shot 11 Muslim worshippers and kidnapped the imam.
Reacting, MURIC, in a statement issued on Saturday by the director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, condemned the attack.
According to the Islamic group, Muslims have become endangered species in Delta State and the entire South East.
The statement reads in part: “This is a dastardly act that must be condemned by all right-thinking people and we condemn it in the strongest terms.
“It will be recalled that the Secretary of the Delta State Muslim Council, Mallam Musa Ugasa, a resident of Ughelli, was brutally killed earlier this year by yet-to-be-identified persons
“The latest attack on Ughelli Central Mosque is one too many.”
It added, “MURIC calls on the Commissioner of Police in Delta State Ari Muhammad Ali, to fish out the perpetrators.”
