Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have intensified military operations against terrorist hideouts across Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi states, targeting the protection of communities and the neutralisation of armed groups.
In Sokoto State on March 25, 2026, soldiers of the COAS Intervention Battalion VII engaged terrorists in Magonho Forest, eliminating three bandits and recovering three AK-47 rifles and motorcycles.
Zamfara State also witnessed a series of operations. Troops carried out an ambush along the Gada Maya–Makakari Village road, neutralising two terrorists and recovering weapons, ammunition, communication devices and a motorcycle.
In a separate incident, terrorists attempted to attack Kaida Village, accusing residents of collaborating with security forces. Troops repelled the attack, killing one terrorist and recovering an AK-47 rifle.
Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers also conducted a clearance operation in Dutsi Village, Moriki District, forcing terrorists to abandon weapons and ammunition as they fled under pressure.
Similarly, in Kebbi State, intelligence reports of activities by the Lakurawa Terrorist Group (LTG) in Giron Masa community, Shanga Local Government Area, prompted troops to advance to the area. They were ambushed about 500 metres from the village, but reinforcements and combat support were deployed, while efforts to track and neutralise the fleeing terrorists are ongoing.
The 8 Division/Sector 2 OPFY reaffirmed its commitment to dominating operational areas, degrading terrorist capabilities and protecting civilians.
According to Lt.-Col. Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Nigerian Army, the troops’ morale remains high, reflecting professionalism, courage and dedication to national service.
