Troops defy terrorists, secure Ngoshe for Sallah celebrations

Nigerian military troops attached to Operation Hadin Kai successfully secured the towns of Ngoshe and Gwoza, paving the way for peaceful Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Defying widespread propaganda and direct threats from Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the military effectively neutralized the insurgents' attempts to project dominance in the region.

Ahead of the Sallah festivities, terrorist factions had deliberately circulated alarming propaganda intended to instill fear among the local populace.

The insurgents boldly claimed they would overrun Ngoshe, occupy the town, and conduct their own Sallah prayers inside its central mosque. This psychological warfare was designed to undermine the authority of the state and terrorize residents who have been gradually returning to a state of normalcy.
Responding decisively to these threats, and following a prior attack on Ngoshe town on March 4, the Nigerian Army heavily reinforced its positions in the area.

The ground troops, supported by coordinated aerial operations and heightened community vigilance, launched a robust defensive strategy. Through these combined efforts, the military successfully disrupted the insurgents' tactical movements and neutralized several terrorists before they could execute their planned occupation.

When Sallah day arrived, the atmosphere in both Ngoshe and Gwoza remained undeniably peaceful, standing in stark contrast to the terrorists' boasts.

Local residents were able to move freely, attend their prayers without fear, and celebrate the holiday with their families.

In a symbolic reversal of the insurgents' threats, it was the Nigerian troops, not the terrorists who celebrated Sallah inside the Ngoshe central mosque.

This strategic move not only reaffirmed the military's firm control over the territory but also publicly exposed the complete failure of the terrorists' propaganda campaign.

Following the successful defense of the region, the Armed Forces issued a statement commending the residents of Ngoshe and Gwoza for their unwavering cooperation and vigilance.

Military authorities urged the public to maintain their support for ongoing security operations and cautioned against the dangers of sharing or amplifying terrorist narratives, noting that such actions only serve to undermine national security and embolden enemies of the state
