Tingo Mobile pioneers contactless payment revolution with new ‘ePOS’ app in Nigeria

In a landmark move to address the financial transaction challenges in Nigeria, Tingo Mobile Plc, a leading company in the fintech, agri-fintech, and food sectors, has launched a state-of-the-art ‘ePOS’ platform.

The CEO of Tingo Mobile, Auwal Maude, expressed confidence in the platform’s ease of distribution to clients in Nigeria and Malawi.

It is designed to expedite transaction processes, reduce queues, and provide a secure and seamless payment experience for both customers and businesses.

The Product Director at Tingo Mobile, Uzor Onumonu, shed light on the inspiration behind the ePOS.

The concept was developed in response to the difficulties observed with traditional terminals and POS systems.

The ePOS platform is borne out of a commitment to financial inclusivity, allowing merchants to effortlessly ‘tap and go.’

Initially available in Nigeria, it promises to be a game-changer in the financial transaction landscape.

Onumonu further highlighted the advanced security features of the Tingo ePOS mobile systems.

“Tingo ePOS is a contactless, payment solution, it’s basically POS on phone, and ts involves ‘Tap and go,’ it helps to eradicate issues of card decline, operational cost, network issues, and physical POS terminal among others.In the next six month, we all should expect agency banking.”

Tingo mobile, a leading technology company, has introduced a revolutionary product called Tingo ePOS that aims to transform the way merchants conduct transactions.

The Product Manager,  Oluwafemi Ologun, explained that this innovative solution eliminates the need for traditional terminals and offers a hassle-free experience for merchants.

“The Tingo ePOS system only requires an Android device to function, without any additional monthly maintenance or rental fees.

“This makes transactions more accessible and convenient for merchants.

“With Tingo ePOS, customers no longer need to hand over their cards to agents. Instead, merchants simply display the back of their phone, allowing customers to tap their own phones to complete the transaction.

“The process takes less than 5 seconds, and customers can input their PIN for added security.

“The application works on Android devices and NFC-enabled smartphones, and it is compatible with Visa Card and Mastercard. Additionally, customers can easily share and download receipts for their records,” he added.

Dotun, a key member of the Tingo mobile team, emphasised that the ePOS product has undergone extensive testing to ensure the security of customers’ accounts.

She said bank accounts are securely connected to the system, and Tingo has partnered with Permanent TSB (PTSB) to prevent bank fraud.

The CEO of Tingo Africa,  Edwin Obasogbe, highlighted the numerous advantages of the ePOS system, stating that it simplifies marketing and makes it easier for merchants to sell their products.

He believed that a high-quality product like Tingo ePOS will naturally attract customers who are seeking positive transformations in their lives.

Also, the Product Manager, Oluwafemi Ologun said it changes the idea of going to the terminal, he explains how it works for merchants.

“Tingo ePOS, needs only android devices to work, no need for monthly maintenance fee, rental fee, it makes transactions very free, the solution will transform the World.

“Aside maintenance fee, all you need to do is to tap at the back of your phone

You don’t need to hand over your card to any agent, they will display the back of their phone, all you need to do is to tap, you input your pin and in less than 5- seconds it’s approved,” Ologun added.

It was gathered that the application worked on android devices and a NFC-enabled smartphone. It worked on Visa Card and Mastercard receipts that can be shared and downloaded and also learnt that Tingo has permanent TSB (PTSB) to avoid bank fraud.

The CEO of Africa, Edwin Obasogbe, expressed his belief in the numerous advantages of the ePOS system and its ability to simplify marketing efforts.

According to him, a high-quality product like the ePOS will naturally attract customers as people are inclined to subscribe to things that can positively impact their lives.
