The Product Director at Tingo Mobile, Uzor Onumonu, shed light on the inspiration behind the ePOS.
The concept was developed in response to the difficulties observed with traditional terminals and POS systems.

“Tingo ePOS is a contactless, payment solution, it’s basically POS on phone, and ts involves ‘Tap and go,’ it helps to eradicate issues of card decline, operational cost, network issues, and physical POS terminal among others.In the next six month, we all should expect agency banking.”
Tingo mobile, a leading technology company, has introduced a revolutionary product called Tingo ePOS that aims to transform the way merchants conduct transactions.
The Product Manager, Oluwafemi Ologun, explained that this innovative solution eliminates the need for traditional terminals and offers a hassle-free experience for merchants.
“The Tingo ePOS system only requires an Android device to function, without any additional monthly maintenance or rental fees.
“This makes transactions more accessible and convenient for merchants.
“With Tingo ePOS, customers no longer need to hand over their cards to agents. Instead, merchants simply display the back of their phone, allowing customers to tap their own phones to complete the transaction.
“The process takes less than 5 seconds, and customers can input their PIN for added security.
“The application works on Android devices and NFC-enabled smartphones, and it is compatible with Visa Card and Mastercard. Additionally, customers can easily share and download receipts for their records,” he added.
Dotun, a key member of the Tingo mobile team, emphasised that the ePOS product has undergone extensive testing to ensure the security of customers’ accounts.
She said bank accounts are securely connected to the system, and Tingo has partnered with Permanent TSB (PTSB) to prevent bank fraud.

“Aside maintenance fee, all you need to do is to tap at the back of your phone
You don’t need to hand over your card to any agent, they will display the back of their phone, all you need to do is to tap, you input your pin and in less than 5- seconds it’s approved,” Ologun added.
It was gathered that the application worked on android devices and a NFC-enabled smartphone. It worked on Visa Card and Mastercard receipts that can be shared and downloaded and also learnt that Tingo has permanent TSB (PTSB) to avoid bank fraud.
