Tetracore unveils expanded Ogun CNG plant, doubles capacity to 6.2m SCFD

...Boosts Nigeria’s clean energy transition
Tetracore Energy Group Limited has inaugurated its Phase II Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility in Ogun State, boosting its total delivery capacity to 6.2 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) and reinforcing Nigeria’s quest for affordable and cleaner energy solutions.
The new facility, situated along the Benin–Sagamu Expressway in Ogbere Community, Ijebu East Local Government Area, builds on the success of Phase I, a 3.1 MMscfd plant commissioned in June 2024.
With this expansion, the company is strategically positioned to meet surging demand for natural gas from industries, power plants, and Auto-Gas vehicles across Nigeria’s western corridor.
The project is in step with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Presidential CNG Initiative (Pi-CNG), which is designed to accelerate the country’s transition from conventional fuels to natural gas as a more cost-effective and environmentally sustainable alternative.
Speaking at the commissioning, Tetracore’s Programme Executive, Oladayo Williams, said the development demonstrates the company’s dedication to supporting Nigeria’s energy ambitions.
“The commissioning of Phase II strengthens our ability to provide clean, cost-effective, and reliable energy solutions for industries, the transport sector, and power generation, while contributing to Nigeria’s broader economic growth,” Williams said.
The plant is equipped with advanced safety technology, including automated leak detection systems, continuous pressure monitoring, and internationally recognised QHSE standards. In addition, Tetracore has deployed cutting-edge Mobile Refilling Units to ensure an uninterrupted supply for commercial and industrial clients.
With the increased output, the company is set to serve major offtakers, including AYM Shafa, Optimal Energy, Pi-CNG buses, and Dangote Cement, which recently signed an agreement for the supply of 400,000 standard cubic metres (SCM) of CNG to power its nationwide logistics operations.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by government officials, financiers, industry leaders, and representatives of key regulatory and planning bodies, including the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
Delivering a goodwill message, the Managing Director of Billgas, one of Tetracore’s strategic partners, described the plant as a milestone achievement.
“This facility is a clear demonstration of what is possible when industry leaders share a vision for cleaner, more sustainable energy,” he said.
The commissioning cements Tetracore’s standing as one of the country’s leading operators of Mobile Auto-Gas Refuelling Units and underscores its growing role in advancing Nigeria’s clean energy transition.
