Teachers’ Recruitment: Osun Govt releases interview dates for applicants

The Osun State government has instructed the Ministry of Education to conduct interviews for the teachers’ recruitment within the cutoff range established after the test.
The recruitment test took place from March 27 to March 28, 2024, across 13 centres in the state.
In a release on Wednesday, Kolapo Alimi, the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, announced that the interviews will be held from Monday, September 9 to Friday, September 13, 2024, at 9 a.m. each day.
The interviews will be conducted in six zones across the state. Applicants are advised to check their individual recruitment portal or email for their scheduled interview dates.
Governor Ademola Adeleke issued this directive during a State Executive Council meeting after receiving an update from the Commissioner for Education, Hon. Adedipo Eluwole, on the progress of the recruitment process.
He said, “In line with Council decision, the Ministry has also issued notice of interview as follows:
“This is to inform the General Public, particularly applicants who participated in the recently concluded Osun State Teachers’ Recruitment Exercise, that the following centres have been designated for the interview phase of the exercise in the six (6) zones of the state.
“IFE ZONE, Oduduwa College, Ile-Ife (for TESCOM Applicants) Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School Ile- Ife (for SUBEB Applicants), ILESHA ZONE Ilesha Grammar School, Ilesha (for TESCOM Applicants), St. Margaret’s Girls Grammar School Ilesha (for SUBEB Applicants)
“OSOGBO ZONE, Osogbo Grammar School, Osogbo (for TESCOM Applicants) Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo (for SUBEB Applicants), IKIRUN ZONE, Holy Trinity Grammar School, Ikirun (for TESCOM Applicants), Akinorun High School, Ikirun (for SUBEB Applicants)
“IWO ZONE, Baptist Grammar School, Iwo (for TESCOM Applicants), Iwo Grammar School,Iwo (for SUBEB Applicants), EDE ZONE, Oba Laoye Grammar School, Ede (for TESCOM Applicants), Ede High School, Ede (for SUBEB Applicants.
“Those who applied for the post of Education Officers and/Technical Instructors are to be interviewed at the Osun State Civil Service Commission, Opposite NECO Office, Osogbo.”
The Council noted that the delay in the conclusion of the exercise was due in part to the protracted negotiations on the new minimum wage which has now been concluded and for which the state government has set up an implementation committee for commencement.
Plateau Govt to build 55 secondary schools
The Plateau Government has awarded contracts for the construction of 55 new secondary schools across the state.
Gov. Caleb Mutfwang disclosed this when he signed the contract documents on Wednesday in Jos.
The governor noted that the move was part of his commitment toward overhauling and improving the education sector .
He explained that the projects would be implemented in conjunction with the Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), funded by the World Bank.
Mutfwang stressed that the projects were designed to particularly empower the girl child, noting that education of women was key to the development of the state.
“These projects, involving the construction of 35 Junior and 20 senior secondary schools ,are being implemented under the AGILE project, funded by the World Bank.
“They are a crucial investment in improving the learning environment for our children in the state.
“We will ensure that they meet the highest standards; our supervising mechanisms will be top-notch because we want to set a precedent with this initiative.
“We will do this so that when the World Bank team comes for evaluation, we will not be found wanting,” Mutfwang said.
The Governor, who disclosed that the projects would be funded through loans, urged the contractors to strictly adhere to set specifications.
He said that anyone found not doing what was expected of him would be sanctioned.
Speaking, the Commissioner for Secondary Education in the state, Me Mohammed Nyalun, thanked the World Bank and the Federal Government for supporting education in the state.
According to him, the initiative is crucial toward ensuring that every child in the state accesses quality education via a conducive learning environment.
On his part, the Project Coordinator of AGILE in the state, Mr Shirinkpo Maina, noted that the projects would lay the groundwork for inclusive and quality education that would be accessible to every child, regardless of background.
NYSC assures corps members increased allowance as minimum wage takes effect
The National Youth Service Corps has assured serving corps members of an increase in their monthly allowance as the implementation of the new minimum wage draws near.
The Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed, made this known while addressing corps members at the Kebbi State Orientation Camp, Dakingari and Sokoto State Orientation Camp in Wamakko.
According to General Ahmed, the increase in allowance is a well-deserved reward for the selfless and immense contributions of corps members to the socio-economic development of the country.
He also implored them to use the opportunity of the service year to develop themselves and plan for greater heights in the future.
The NYSC DG further advised the corps members to embrace the skill acquisition and entrepreneurship development programme of the scheme, to acquire vocational skills that will make them self-reliant.
Recall that the President Bola Tinubu-led federal government recently agreed on a N70,000 new national minimum wage with the Organised Labour, which has been passed into law.
