The Senate of the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has thrown weight behind the management decision to shutdown campus activities owing to students protest.

This was contained in a special release, signed by the school’s Registrar, Mrs M.I. Omosule.

Earlier, students had begun protest over the killing of a student named, Omowunmi Aisha Adeshina.

They also blocked the Ife/Ede highways and other adjoining roads in the City, prompting the management to indefinitely suspend all academic activities.

The Senate condoled with the family of the deceased and condemning the actions that led to the untimely death of the student.

They, however, commended the management for being very proactive and taken the decision it took, stressing that many lives would have been lost had the decision not been taken.

They also supported the decision to hold on the swearing in of the newly elected Students’ Union Government.
