Stop media terrorism on Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal – APC warns PDP

By Konyinsola Dawodu

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has frowned at the opposition state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the use of media terrorism to misinform the members of the public on the proceedings at the ongoing   governorship election petition tribunal in Osogbo, the state capital.

The state APC chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, in a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the state capital yesterday said the earlier the  state chapter of the PDP realizes that the use of fake reporting to confuse and mislead the unsuspecting members of the public on the ongoing proceedings at the tribunal, the better it would be for them.

Famodun stated that he wasn’t surprised at the approach of the  media goons of the PDP who left leprosy untreated and prioritized on the treatment of  mere less harmless ringworm.

The state APC chairman noted that the use of the  media terrorism introduced on the reportage of the Osun governorship election petition tribunal proceedings would not confer any positive advantage on the PDP and their embattled candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, but would rather expose them as a group of desperados who are only interested in the glamour of the office of the governor.

He reiterated that no amount of pranks and introduction of untoward phlegmatic legal chicaneries laced with media terrorism and physical threat that would prevent Governor Gboyega Oyetola from retrieving his obviously stolen mandate from the PDP candidate.

Famodun told the Osun State PDP chapter that its delayed tactics at the tribunal for an unmerited ulterior motive is already known to the discerning members of the public, adding that the opposition party could only run, but it could not hide.

The Osun State APC chairman hinted that what could have been responsible for the jittery conduct of the PDP handlers for creating a brickwall over the smooth running of the tribunal if not the available iron-caste proof of the APC that Adeleke was wrongly declared the winner of the July 16, 2022 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)?

It would be recalled that a tilted media reportage of the resumption of the ongoing governorship election petition tribunal in Osogbo which was from the rumour mill of the state PDP was copiously fed to the public in order to misrepresent and confuse the people about the true proceedings at the tribunal.

The invented statement which went viral online  yesterday mischievously stated that the APC and Oyetola’s lawyers were jittery and shaking over the last week’s Federal High Court verdict that pronounced on the nullification of the governorship candidature of Governor Oyetola.

It was also satanically reported in the said composed story from the rumour mill of the PDP that ‘Oyetola’s lawyer lost grasp of procedural processes until(sic) legal luminary, Sir Alex Iziyon, came  to their aid, tutoring them on stages and steps in procedural handling’.

Famodun stated that the hoopla over the Federal High Court was unnecessary and an overkill which could only come from uninformed minds who are ignorant of the fact that Oyetola has a window of 14 days to appeal the judgement and that it’s only if it’s not appealed within the stipulated period that the verdict is enforceable in the court of the land.

The Osun State APC warned the opposition PDP to stop heaping insults on the reputable lawyers that have distinguished themselves in their chosen profession by getting to its pinnacle.

According to the APC, politics should not be an unfettered passport for disgruntled politicians to maliciously lower the professional estimation of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)  which its attainment is not a tea party.

Famodun was full of gratitude to the APC members who graced the tribunal venue on Tuesday, just as he charged them to continue to support the party.
