Jannik Sinner defeated Carlos Alcaraz to win the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters title on Sunday, securing his first trophy at the tournament and reclaiming the world No. 1 ranking.
The 24-year-old Italian overcame Alcaraz in straight sets, 7-6(5), 6-3, in a closely contested final that showcased the intensity of their growing rivalry.

The opening set was tightly balanced, with both players matching each other before Sinner edged the tiebreak. He then raised his level in the second set, breaking Alcaraz twice to seal victory.
The win marks Sinner’s biggest clay-court triumph to date and places him in elite company as only the second player in the Open Era, after Novak Djokovic in 2015, to win the Sunshine Double and Monte Carlo in the same year.
With the result, Sinner also returns to the top of the ATP rankings, underlining his consistency across surfaces.

The victory further tightens his rivalry with Alcaraz, with Sinner now improving his head-to-head record, while both players remain among the most successful under-25 competitors in Masters 1000 events.
Reactions poured in following the match, with Alcaraz congratulating his rival on social media.
“Congratulations @janniksin and your team for the title, a spectacular run! We will continue, there is a long way to go in the clay swing,” Alcaraz posted.
Tennis TV also highlighted Sinner’s dominance, noting his streak of Masters titles and confirming his return to the No. 1 ranking.
Analysts also pointed to the remarkable balance between both players heading into the final, with each spending exactly five hours and 59 minutes on court en route to the title match.
The result reinforces Sinner’s status as one of the leading figures in men’s tennis, as attention now shifts to the rest of the clay-court season, including upcoming tournaments in Barcelona and beyond.
