The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has stated that the upcoming visit of Vice President Kashim Shettima to the state is a strong indication of the confidence President Bola Tinubu has in the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
The party noted that the Vice President’s second visit to Ekiti since the inauguration of the Oyebanji administration highlights the growing partnership between the federal and state governments in driving infrastructural and economic development.
Shettima is expected in Ekiti on Tuesday for a working visit, during which he will inaugurate the 1.2-kilometer Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Flyover at Okeyinmi, described as one of the landmark projects of the Oyebanji administration.
The Vice President will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone and commission other completed projects across the state.
In a statement issued on Monday in Ado Ekiti, the APC State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, said the projects being commissioned demonstrate the alignment between President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and Governor Oyebanji’s Shared Prosperity development blueprint.
He noted that the visit will further strengthen collaboration between the state and federal governments while attracting support from development partners and the private sector for the benefit of Ekiti residents.
“These projects embody the convergence of Renewed Hope at the federal level and Shared Prosperity at the state level,” Dipe said.
He added that beyond physical infrastructure, the visit carries significant political importance, reflecting the robust relationship between the Tinubu administration and the Oyebanji-led government.
“The partnership between President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope and Governor Oyebanji’s Shared Prosperity is visible, verifiable, and delivering results. Ekiti people can see the difference in roads built, projects commissioned, pensions paid, and systems strengthened,” he stated.
Dipe also linked the visit to upcoming electoral contests, expressing confidence that the achievements of the administration would translate into electoral support for Governor Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, in the June 20, 2026 governorship election, as well as for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
“With the governorship election slated for June 20, 2026, and the presidential election in January 2027, the Vice President’s presence reinforces what voters already know: continuity works,” he said.
The APC spokesman further explained that Shettima’s visit, undertaken on behalf of President Tinubu, brings the Renewed Hope agenda directly to Ekiti, where it is being implemented through the state government’s development initiatives.
The Vice President previously visited the state in May 2024, when he inaugurated the Omisanjana–Deeper Life–Ajebandele Road and an MSME clinic, among other projects.
