Sanwo-Olu commissions Ogboni Iduntafa Palace on Lagos Island

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has officially commissioned the Ogboni Iduntafa Palace and welcomed the Eyo Ologede group on Lagos Island, highlighting the state’s commitment to preserving and celebrating its rich cultural traditions.
The Ogboni Iduntafa Palace is recognised as one of the oldest and most respected custodial institutions within the Yoruba cultural sphere. It represents a lineage of spiritual authority, communal guardianship, and ancestral continuity that has endured for generations.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described the commissioning as a landmark event that honours Lagos Island’s heritage and strengthens the bond between government and traditional institutions.
Speaking during the event, the governor emphasised the importance of safeguarding cultural legacies while promoting community cohesion and development.
He praised the Eyo Ologede group for their role in sustaining Yoruba traditions and bridging generational ties.
The commissioning event attracted traditional leaders, community representatives, and cultural enthusiasts, underscoring Lagos Island’s position as a hub of heritage and history within the state.
