Remembering 9/11: A day that changed the World forever

The timeline of terror
Four planes were hijacked, with each striking a different target.
8:46 a.m.: American Airlines Flight 11 hits the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
9:03 a.m.: United Airlines Flight 175 strikes the South Tower.
9:37 a.m.: American Airlines Flight 77 crashes into the Pentagon.
10:03 a.m.: United Airlines Flight 93 goes down in Shanksville, PA, after passengers fight back.
The unthinkable loss
The attacks killed 2,996 people from over 90 countries. Among the victims were 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, and 37 Port Authority police officers who bravely rushed in to help. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
The economic aftermath
The attacks had a staggering economic impact. The damage to the World Trade Center alone was estimated at $60 billion. New York City lost over 143,000 jobs in the months that followed, and the U.S. stock market plummeted, losing over 7% on its first day back.
A new era of security
In response, the U.S. launched a global war on terrorism. This led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), which forever changed how we travel. It also reshaped U.S. foreign policy for decades to come.
Honoring their memory
Today, we remember the victims at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York City. The twin reflecting pools sit where the towers once stood, a solemn tribute to those lost. The annual Tribute in Light shines two beams into the sky, symbolizing resilience and hope.
