RCCG Parish marks 18th anniversary with community cleanup, health outreach

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Freedom Court Parish, Lagos Youth Province 1, has organised a community cleanup exercise and health outreach, as part of activities marking its 18th anniversary.
The report states that the outreach was held on Monday at Cardoso Street, Mushin, Lagos .
The event attracted a large number of church members and was aimed at promoting environmental sanitation and improving the well-being of residents in the area.
The report states that the participants cleared and evacuated refuse from drainage channels, picked litter along the street and swept public spaces to create a cleaner and healthier environment.
Speaking on the exercise, a member of the church’s management team, Mr Joshua Taiwo, a Pastor, said the initiative was inspired by the teachings of Matthew 25, which emphasised service to humanity.
According to him, Christian ministry extends beyond worship within the church and involves making a positive impact on society through practical acts of service.
“Ministry is not just about sitting in church, it is about going out to be a blessing to people and making a meaningful difference in society,” he said.
Taiwo explained that the cleanup exercise and health outreach formed part of the church’s Christian Social Responsibility Programme(SRP)
He said that through the SRP, the church regularly undertook projects and interventions aimed at supporting communities and vulnerable groups.
Taiwo said the initiative reflected the church’s commitment to practical Christianity by addressing environmental and social challenges while also meeting the health needs of residents.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the Cardoso-Agoro Residents Development Association, Mr Rahmon Bakare, commended the church for the intervention.
He described it as a welcome development for the community.
Bakare urged other religious organisations, non-governmental organisations, corporate bodies, community associations and public-spirited individuals to emulate the gesture.
He noted that community development should not be left solely to government.
According to him,the programme aligns with the community’s commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment and described the intervention as timely, especially during the rainy season.
Some residents who benefited from the outreach expressed appreciation to the church, noting that cleaner surroundings and increased health awareness would contribute to improved living conditions in the community.
The anniversary outreach formed part of RCCG Freedom Court Parish’s efforts to promote community development and environmental sustainability through service-oriented initiatives.
