Private school owners root for enforcement of COVID-19 protocols

Some private school owners in Uvwie and Warri South Local Government Areas have appealed for more awareness campaign and enforcement on government directives aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19.

One of them, Chief Anastasia Agbatutu, the Proprietress of St Anastasia Heights, Effurun,  lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over his efforts on the fight against the dreaded pandemic.

Chief Agbatutu stated her preparedness and other private school owners to complement Governor Okowa’s effort in the fight against the COVID-19 in their schools.

Agbatutu expressed fears that after compliance of government’s directives at school, staff, pupils and students were exposed to the dangers of non-compliance by the general public as she cited lack of social distancing in commercial vehicles to substantiate her fear.

The Proprietress of City Child Foundation Schools, Ekpan, Mrs Rose Obi, spoke in the same vein, as she appealed to Governor Okowa for assistance to owners of private schools whenever he can.

Mrs Obi, who doubles as the Chairman of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Uvwie Local Government Area Chapter, had earlier admonished staff, students and pupils of her school to always abide by government directives aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 even outside school hours.

“It is only those who are alive that can learn, “she added.

On his part, the Director of Studies, Best Model Schools, Warri, Evangelist Peter Efeakpokrire, thanked Governor Okowa for the resumption of schools in spite of the rumour of the perpetual postponement of resumption.
