Pres. Tinubu condemns Plateau, Kaduna killings, orders security crackdown

Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba district of Jos, Plateau State, as well as Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The President described the incidents, which involved the killing and abduction of wedding guests in Kaduna, as an affront to national values, assuring Nigerians that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward. By attacking soft targets in Jos, their objective is not only to cause harm but also to trigger a spiral of reprisal attacks and further violence,” he said.
Pres. Tinubu directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track and apprehend those responsible for the attacks, as well as individuals spreading misinformation capable of escalating tensions.
He also cautioned sections of the media against insinuations that the attacks were religiously motivated, warning that such narratives could inflame the situation.
The President reaffirmed that security agencies are actively addressing the crisis and emphasised the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and protecting lives and property. He urged affected communities to comply with evacuation and relocation advisories where necessary.
He also acknowledged the safe return of two victims from the Kaduna incident.
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued immediately,” the President said.
Pres. Tinubu commended Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State for efforts to contain the situation in Jos and Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State for supporting rescue and security operations.
He expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery, assuring that the Federal Government is strengthening security capacity with the acquisition of advanced equipment to enhance real-time tracking and response to criminal activities.
