Police rescue kidnapped victims, foil bandit attacks in Katsina

In Malumfashi LGA, five kidnapped individuals have been rescued, and Katsina police operations have successfully thwarted two bandit attacks.
In a statement on Monday,ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the command’s spokesperson, announced that the police had rescued five kidnapped victims and also eliminated two bandits.
“On Sunday, the Malumfashi Divisional police headquarters received an emergency call from Layin Minister Village reporting that bandits had attacked and abducted five individuals.
“After receiving the report, officers were swiftly deployed to the scene. Upon spotting the police, the bandits began shooting, and the officers responded bravely.”
Sadiq stated, “All the kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, while the attackers were overpowered by the operatives’ superior firepower and fled with varying degrees of gunshot wounds.”
Sadiq noted that on the same day, the headquarters received another emergency call reporting armed bandits travelling on 12 motorbikes, wielding deadly weapons, and firing intermittently.
“They exploited the heavy rain to launch an attack on Marabar Kankara village in Malumfashi LGA. Upon receiving the report, the DPO of Malumfashi quickly deployed operatives to the area, who engaged the assailants in a fierce gunfight and successfully thwarted the attack.”
Sadiq stated, “While examining the scene, the bodies of two suspected armed bandits who were neutralised were found. Efforts are being ramped up to capture the fleeing suspects as the investigation continues.”
In a related update, police operatives in Kaduna State have made significant strides in recent operations, including the arrest of two cattle rustlers and two notorious gun runners, the prevention of a kidnapping attempt, and the seizure of a modified AK-47 along with ammunition.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the police spokesperson, reported that on August 22, 2024, the police, acting on reliable intelligence, carried out a successful raid on a hideout used by a notorious cattle rustling gang. The operation took place in the Kasuwa Magani area of Kujama, Kaduna.
“During the operation, the police arrested two suspects: Aminu Saleh, a 25-year-old male, and Jafar Ibrahim, a 24-year-old male. Upon interrogation, they admitted to their involvement in the crime and disclosed that they had been collaborating with four other syndicate members who are currently on the run.
“On August 22, 2024, Shafiu Abdullahi reported to Operation Fushin Kada that he had been receiving threatening phone calls demanding 10 million Naira, with threats of kidnapping if the ransom was not paid. The Tracking and Response Team swiftly intervened, employing advanced methods to locate and apprehend the suspects.”
