Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have foiled a truck hijacking in the Ijebu North area of the state, recovering a stolen DAF truck loaded with motor spare parts along with a fabricated wooden rifle allegedly used by the suspects.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Oke-Ado, Ijebu North, where hoodlums intercepted the truck driver and forcefully took possession of the vehicle while it was in transit.
According to the command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, detectives attached to the Ijebu Imushin Division, working alongside highway patrol officers, responded swiftly after receiving information about the attack.
The rapid police intervention forced the suspects to abandon the truck and flee the scene to evade arrest.
A search conducted on the recovered vehicle led to the discovery of a wooden-fabricated rifle wrapped in black tape, which investigators believe was used to intimidate the driver during the operation.
Babaseyi stated that the prompt intervention of the police effectively thwarted the criminal operation and prevented the loss of valuable property.
The truck driver sustained a minor injury to his right ankle during the struggle and was immediately provided with first aid treatment.
The Police have since launched a manhunt to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects for prosecution.
Meanwhile, the command urged residents and motorists to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, reaffirming its commitment to protecting lives and property throughout Ogun State.
