Police launch manhunt for three suspects over alleged same-sex activity

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has declared two men and a woman wanted for allegedly practicing homosexuality.
Homosexuality, which is defined as an attraction between people of the same sex, is illegal in Nigeria and is punishable by up to 14 years imprisonment under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
According to the police statement, the suspects have been identified as Salisu Ayinde, Sulaiman Rasaki Akin Aliu, and Adeola Mary Odunmbaku.
They were reportedly caught practicing homosexuality by members of their community.
The suspects fled the scene of the incident, and the public has been urged to report any information regarding their whereabouts.
“We have carried out a thorough investigation into this criminal act and found the allegations to be true,” the statement read.
“Sadly, they escaped during an attempt to apprehend them. Anyone with useful information about their whereabouts should kindly contact the nearest police station, as various attempts to arrest and prosecute them have so far proven abortive.”
