Police arrest suspected cultists, recover pump-action gun, others

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested several suspected cultists and recovered a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, and illicit drugs during separate operations across the state.
The command stated that the arrests were made during intelligence-led raids aimed at dismantling cult-related criminal networks and curbing violent crime in affected communities.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, officers of the command’s Anti-Cultism Unit carried out the operations following credible intelligence regarding the activities of suspected cult members.
Edafe disclosed that the suspects were apprehended at identified criminal hideouts during coordinated raids.
The recovered exhibits included one pump-action gun, five live cartridges, and substances suspected to be illicit drugs.

He stated that these operations form part of the command’s sustained efforts to rid Delta State of cultism, armed violence, and other criminal activities threatening public peace.
The Police spokesperson noted that preliminary investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of the suspects’ involvement in cult-related activities and other crimes within the state.
He added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigations.
The Delta State Police Command reassured residents of its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies to support crime-fighting efforts.
