Police arraign 3 for allegedly stealing employer’s N800,000 goods

The police has arraigned three women, Opeyemi Salami, Anjorin Mutiyat and Ifeoluwa Sanyaolu, before an Ota Magistrates Court on Monday, for allegedly stealing 10 pairs of Puma slippers and other valuables worth N800,000, belonging to their employer.
Salami, 23, Mutiyat 22, and Sanyaolu 19, whose addresses were not provided are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants with others still at large, committed the offence on Dec. 6, 2024 at about 7.00 p.m. at No.7 Mupin road, Iyesi area, Ota.
Adaraloye alleged that the defendants and their accomplices, conspired to steal 10 pairs of Puma slippers, 15 pairs of imported Nike slippers and other valuable items worth N800,000 belonging to their employer, Adebayo Oluwatosin.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted bail to each of the defendants in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties each, in like sum.
Fadairo said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until April 28, for further hearing.
