Plateau Attacks: Gov. Mutfwang urges security operatives to redouble effort
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State on Thursday expressed sadness over a bloody attack that claimed several lives in the Heipang community of Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of the state.
He also strongly condemned the recent attacks in some villages in Mangu Local Government Area where more lives were lost.
The Governor equally appealed to security agencies to redouble their efforts and put an end to the senseless killings of innocent people in the rural communities of Mangu and Barkin-Ladi LGAs.
While appealing for calm, the Governor urged citizens to take advantage of the security and information centre activated by the state government to receive intelligence for prompt intervention.
News gathered that 21 people were brutally murdered by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in the communities at about 1am Thursday morning; also a few days ago, 5 residents of Ncha community in Mangu LGA were killed by unknown gunmen.
Governor Mutfwang through his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Mr Gyang Bere, disclosed this while condemning the incidents.
He described the deteriorating security situation in some parts of the state as “unfortunate”.
“We call for greater collaboration between community leaders and security agencies to prevent further attacks”, he maintained.
Mutfwang emphasised the importance of peace and unity among all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity, for the development and growth of the state.
While expressing condolences to the affected communities and families of the deceased, the Governor assured them of the government’s commitment to addressing the issues.
He prayed for comfort for the grieving people of Heipang and Mangu, saying, ”I want to urge the citizenry to make use of the security and information centre activated by the state government to communicate security information for prompt intervention”.
