The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has released the official program for the 10th edition of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC), scheduled to take place from February 10 to 12, 2026, at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos.
The 2026 edition, which marks a decade of convening Africa’s leading oil, gas, and energy stakeholders, will be held in partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), NNPC Limited, the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and AOS Orwell.
Over 30 national oil companies, regulators, and government agencies across Sub-Saharan Africa are also expected to participate.
Since its inception in 2017 as WAIPEC the West Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference the event has evolved into a continental platform for energy dialogue and investment. Participation has grown from 148 delegates and two national oil companies in its first year to more than 1,400 delegates and 23 NOCs in 2025, with even greater attendance anticipated in 2026.
The exhibition component has also expanded significantly, increasing from 35 exhibitors in 2017 to over 150 expected next February, covering exploration, drilling, engineering, digitalisation, and energy transition technologies.
PETAN’s Conference Chairman, Mr. Ibe Chubby Ibe, described SAIPEC as “a true continental force” driving collaboration and local content development in Africa’s energy sector. “Our tenth anniversary represents both a celebration and a call to action to shape the next decade of sustainable growth through innovation and African content leadership,” he said.
An Investment Forum will focus on capital deployment, risk management, and financing mechanisms for new energy ventures.
New additions for SAIPEC 2026 include in-country roundtables, a Local Content Pitching Session, and an expanded technical conference covering project execution and technology trends.
Networking events including business luncheons, exclusive receptions, and PETAN’s signature golf day will provide platforms for high-level engagement and deal-making.
As part of the anniversary week, the NCDMB will host the Local Content AfCFTA Energy Summit on February 9, 2026, exploring how the African Continental Free Trade Agreement can strengthen intra-African energy trade and enhance local participation.
Over the past ten years, SAIPEC has facilitated millions of dollars in partnerships and projects across Africa’s energy value chain, advancing collaboration and investment in the sector.
With Sub-Saharan Africa’s expanding gas potential and increasing focus on renewable integration, SAIPEC remains central to discussions shaping the continent’s role in global energy diversification.
