Osun Gov’t splits 55.6km Osogbo-Iwo-Ibadan road among three contractors to fast-track completion

The Osun State Government has officially approved the 55.6-kilometre Osogbo/Iwo/Ibadan road project, strategically dividing the contract among three separate firms to ensure rapid delivery and eliminate the logistical bottlenecks often associated with single-contractor projects of this scale.

According to the state government, the decision to award the project to multiple contractors—Peculiar Ultimate Concerns, Kimzee Global Resources, and A’skorg Integrated Service Limited is a deliberate tactic to stimulate economic activities and provide immediate relief to commuters linking Osun and Oyo states.

By breaking the 55.6km stretch into three distinct phases, the administration aims to facilitate simultaneous construction across multiple fronts.
Engr. Moruf Ojebode, the State Director of Highways, confirmed the development during an inspection of ongoing works in Iwo.

He disclosed that the contractors are scheduled for mobilization this month, marking a critical step in the state’s infrastructure revolution.

“The decision was designed to fast-track delivery, improve connectivity, and stimulate economic activities around the express corridors,” Ojebode stated, noting that this multi-firm approach ensures that no single section of the vital interstate link lags behind the others.

The project is being integrated into a broader infrastructural push in Iwo, which includes the town’s first-ever 3.6km dual carriageway.

While the first phase of the Iwo township project is currently 50% complete with drainage, walkways, and medians nearing finishing stages, the awarding of the larger Osogbo-Ibadan artery to three firms is seen as a move to prevent the township upgrades from becoming isolated from the main regional network.

Residents and community leaders have hailed the strategic move. Prof. Lai Olurode, Chairman of the Iwo Board of Trustees, noted that while the township roads are groundbreaking, the completion of the Osogbo/Iwo/Ibadan road is the ultimate goal to ensure the internal roads function efficiently within the regional economy.

The multi-contractor strategy is expected to significantly reduce the usual project fatigue seen in long-distance roadworks, ensuring that the 55.6km corridor is delivered within a timeline that supports the administration’s commitments to grassroots development and interstate trade.
