Osun Government takes proactive measure to prevent flooding

… As it embarks on stream dredging across the state

Osun State Government has commenced the dredging of Osun Rivers and Canals ahead of the raining season to ensure the safety of lives and properties of residents across local governments in the State.

Hon. Rufus Oyegbile, the Special Adviser on Sanitation in the Ministry of Environment and Sanitation to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, made this known during an inspection at one of the dredging sites, in Boripe local government.

He said the government under the administration of Governor Oyetola approved to embark on dredging of the rivers to prevent flooding during the rainy season.

According to him, “this is the best time for dredging to get best results.”

The dredging of rivers and canals is ongoing across the state to prevent any form of calamity that may come up from flooding.

“Protection of lives and properties of Osun citizens is the primary assignment of any responsible government,” the SA stated.

In his remarks, one of the residents of Oke-Aresa Area Iragbiji, of Boripe local government, Mr Yusuf Akanni appreciated the state government for its proactive step in rescuing them from flooding.

He mentioned that they are always in panic during r the raining season due to what they encounter, but for the government’s foresight ahead of the rainy season, they are assured that there will be no flooding in the forthcoming raining season.

He prayed for the successful tenure of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and also promised to garner support for the re-election bid of the second term in office of Mr Governor.
