Osun APC refutes Accord’s alleged plan against Party leaders

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked the Accord Party’s allegation that the opposition party is planning to use extra-judicial means to secure victory for its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the forthcoming August 15, 2026 election.

The APC described the allegation as fabricated and frivolous, urging security agencies to investigate the serious claims raised by the Accord chairman.

In a statement signed by the APC Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the party said a thorough investigation into the allegation would serve as a deterrent to other politicians peddling rumors capable of disturbing public peace in the state.

According to the statement, “There is an urgent need for the police to investigate the fabricated assassination plan of the Accord Party leadership in the state in order to straighten out this knotty issue and prove to all and sundry that no election is worth the blood of any inhabitant of the state.”

“The fact remains that our governorship candidate, Asiwaju Oyebamiji, who is a man of peace, and the other leaders of our party in the state do not require the introduction of violence to win the forthcoming governorship election, given our party’s high level of preparation.”

“We can see that the handlers of the deregistered Accord Party in Osun State are jittery because of the monumental loss their party suffered in the just-concluded governorship election in Ekiti State.”

“What the leadership of the glaringly unpopular and relatively unknown, embattled Accord Party is doing by manufacturing this allegation against our leaders is trying to lay a foundation for the imminent loss of their most difficult-to-sell governorship candidate, Senator Adeleke, whose performance over the past three years has proven to be a monumental disaster for the expected development of the state.”

“It is a simple principle of law that whoever alleges must be ready to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt, which is why the state police command must not treat this frivolous allegation by the Osun State Accord Party with levity.”

“Just because an outgoing chief executive of a state who has lost the confidence and favor of the electorate due to misgovernance and policy somersaults is standing for re-election and being obviously rebuffed by the people who have been victims of his numerous atrocities, does that mean we should not hold meetings in the houses of our leaders?”

“We enjoin the police and the people of the state to discountenance the fabricated allegations of the deregistered Accord Party leaders. It is merely orchestrated to divert our attention, an attempt which has failed woefully as we are fully preoccupied with legitimate ways of working toward the imminent victory of our governorship candidate.”

“We appeal to the ever-loyal members and supporters of our party to refuse to be distracted by the conjectured killing allegations made by Accord Party handlers and to continue working assiduously for the victory of AMBO, our governorship candidate, in the forthcoming election,” the statement added.

Earlier, the State Chairman of the Accord Party, Pastor Victor Akande, called on President Bola Tinubu to reject all the alleged evil proposals already forwarded to his desk.

He said, “We condemn in the strongest possible terms the shameless resort to violence and unethical strategies by the Osun APC leadership. We specifically task Mr. President with rejecting all the evil proposals already forwarded to his table.”

“Details like the killings of Accord leaders, directing the military and other security agencies to outrightly rig the Osun elections, and the open push to compromise the electoral commissions are dangerous ploys that constitute a grievous threat to all democrats and the national democratic life of the nation.”

“We are deeply disappointed that individuals of the caliber gathered at the said meeting could descend so low as to contemplate the political killings of prominent Accord leaders, as well as other illegal and unconstitutional actions aimed at compromising the August elections. This development is a reprehensible descent into political perdition which has further reinforced the imminent defeat of Bola Oyebamiji on August 15th.”

“Now that the Osun APC has openly accepted defeat, we call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore and reject the failed plans of the Osun APC. We call the attention of Mr. President to the genesis of the current development, which stems from Oyetola and Oyebamiji’s lack of capacity both in government and in the management of political parties.”

“The duo not only failed while in government, but they also destroyed the Osun APC, which was handed over to them on a platter of gold. It is not the fault of the Osun Accord Party that Oyetola and Oyebamiji could not manage the Osun APC, leading to the exit of prominent figures and daily resignations from the party. The Oyetola caucus was so non-inclusive and rapidly dictatorial that the Osun APC lost over 60 percent of its followership in 2026 alone,” he said.
