Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has hailed the Super Falcons’ thrilling comeback victory over Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) final, calling it a powerful display of Nigeria’s unshakable spirit.

The Nigerian women’s team pulled off a stunning 3-2 win on Saturday night in Rabat, overturning a two-goal deficit to claim their 10th continental title in dramatic fashion. Despite the roaring support of the home crowd, the Falcons held their nerve, delivering a performance filled with grit, confidence, and character.

Taking to his official X handle, Osinbajo praised the team’s ability to remain calm under pressure and rise to the occasion. “Two goals down. A stadium roaring. But our @nigeriasuperfalcons? They did not panic. They adjusted their wings,” he wrote, capturing the poetic resilience of the team.

He singled out key players whose efforts turned the game around. Esther Okoronkwo was commended for converting a crucial penalty “with the composure of someone solving a constitutional crisis.” Gift Ijamilusi’s equaliser was described as “calm, clinical, confident,” while Jennifer Echegini’s late winner was hailed as “a set piece that felt like it was signed, sealed, and sent from Abuja.”

For Osinbajo, the Falcons’ victory is more than a sporting achievement—it’s a statement of national identity. “Three goals. One comeback written with resolve. And a trophy that now tells its own story in green white green,” he noted.

He concluded with a rousing tribute to the team's embodiment of Nigerian resilience: “We play with fire in our feet and faith in our future. Because we may bend, but we never break. And in case the world needs a reminder… Naija no dey carry last.
