Okpebholo announces commencement of new infrastructure projects in Edo

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the launch of several major infrastructure projects spanning the state’s three senatorial districts.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Fred Itua, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor. According to the statement, Governor Okpebholo revealed the plans during a church service at St. Anthony Catholic Cathedral in Uromi, Edo State.
Expressing gratitude for his electoral victories and the favourable outcome at the election petition tribunal, the Governor credited divine providence for the successes. He also underscored the need for communal unity in advancing development across the state, assuring residents that far-reaching improvements were on the horizon.
Among the flagship initiatives is the construction of a dual carriageway linking Uromi to Ubiaja. The project is expected to ease transportation, boost economic activity, and improve connectivity in the region. Complementary plans for alternative routes to help ease traffic congestion are also being developed.
“Work has already commenced on the Ubiaja end, and we are adding more lanes. This reflects our commitment to delivering lasting impact across the Esan region,” Governor Okpebholo said during the service.
Local support for the Governor’s development agenda has been growing, with community leaders voicing approval. The Bishop of Uromi Diocese, Right Reverend Ogun Donatus Osa, commended the Governor’s role in maintaining peace in Uromi and urged citizens to work hand-in-hand with the state government to further development goals.
As a gesture of solidarity with the Church and the broader community, Governor Okpebholo made a financial donation to support ongoing improvements at the Cathedral. The contribution, he said, signified both his personal connection to the Church and his administration’s backing of grassroots initiatives.
