Oil theft committee, NNPCL intensify push for 3mbd production target — Uzodimma

Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Crude Oil Theft and Management Committee, Hope Uzodimma, has announced that the committee is working closely with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to raise Nigeria’s crude oil output to three million barrels per day, in line with the target set by President Bola Tinubu.

Uzodimma disclosed this while addressing journalists in Abuja after a closed-door session with governors of oil-producing states, senior executives of the NNPCL, and officials of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

He noted that Nigeria’s oil production levels were already showing encouraging signs of recovery.

“Only yesterday, the National Economic Council requested a briefing from the sub-committee on crude oil theft and prevention,” he said. “During the meeting, we observed a promising upward trend in production, which we attribute to the combined efforts of industry operators, security agencies, and state-level stakeholders.”

The governor stated that Friday’s high-level meeting was convened to receive updates from the new leadership of both the NNPCL and NUPRC.

“We are satisfied with the briefings we received and the current work plan of the NNPCL,” Uzodimma explained. “The committee intends to deepen its engagement with the management to align strategies that will help Nigeria reach its production target. Our goal is to ensure the country produces at least three million barrels of crude oil per day, as set out by President Bola Tinubu.”

He also commended the President for his leadership and recent reforms in the oil and gas sector, which he said were beginning to deliver tangible progress.
