Ogun police arrest two ex-convicts returning from Ogbomoso robbery operation

Operatives of Ogun state police command said they have arrested two suspected armed robbers and ex-convicts in Mowe area of the state while coming from robbery operation in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The two robbery suspects are 37-year-old Wasiu Opeyemi, an indigene of Ijebu Ode and 27-year-old Noah Israel from Benue State.

They were apprehended by men of the state anti kidnapping unit who were on routine patrol at Mowe area of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Wasiu and his friend, Noah were said to be on a motorcycle when they were accosted by the team because of their suspicious look and were stopped for questioning.

The two suspects were said to have made attempt to escape but were quickly surrounded by the operatives and taken to the nearest police station.

On interrogation, Wasiu and Noah allegedly confessed to the police that they were coming from Ogbomoso in Oyo state where they had gone to carry out robbery operation.

They confessed further that all the goods in their possession are proceed of the operation. They also stated that one of their victims was forced to transfer the sum of one hundred thousand naira into their account since nothing tangible was found with him.

The suspects who claimed to have met at Oba correctional center while serving different jail terms confessed robbing their victims with cutlass and other dangerous weapons.

Recovered from them were two laptops, eleven phones of different types, one Rolex wrist watch, cash sum of one hundred and twenty two thousand naira and bags containing household items.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has ordered a thorough investigation of the suspects before transferring them to Oyo state where they will be prosecuted.
