The Ogun State Executive Council has approved the construction of five new roads across the state, according to Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya.

The roads include Alagbole-Ajuwon, Akute-Ajuwon, Toyin-Gowahercules road, Oke-Aro, and others in Ifo Local Government Area, as well as roads in Yewa South and Ijebu-Ode Local Government Areas.

The state government has also planned to reconstruct the remaining 17 kilometres of the Akute-Ijoko road, divided into two phases. Additionally, a contract has been awarded for the reconstruction of the Lagos-Ota-Sango-Abeokuta road to Craneburg Construction Company.

It was gathered that the project will be done in phases, starting from Sango to Abeokuta, with four groups working simultaneously.

The government has also facilitated several other projects with the federal government, including the Laderin Train Station road phase one and the rehabilitation of 21 roads across the state.

However, the Commissioner attributed road damage to dumping refuse on drainages and building on waterways, causing flooding, and appealed for patience as the government works to prioritise and repair roads across the state.

“We are working hard to ensure that our roads are motorable and safe for all users, we appeal to the public to be patient with us as we work to address the challenges facing our roads,” said Engr. Ade Akinsanya.
